Has anyone brought a second hand car from motor depot / car supermarket what is the £132.50 on the road package for please ? Hubby has been given invoice and it’s on there and he never thought to ask it’s a 21 plate car he’s getting googled it and nothing comes up
It is a ‘because they can’ fee.
Allegedly they will claim it is to cover the costs of valeting the vehicle, checking the car, doing the licensing and registration.
It is not clear why dealers don’t just add these costs to the displayed price.
It's nothing more than their term for an admin fee. Plenty online about those. Either pay it, or ask for a discount on the vehicle to compensate you for it.
I agree with Wendyhouse. The only thing I would add is that they probably don't add it into the displayed price to make the displayed price lower to attract people to buy. Once they are committed they put the "extras" on.
Watch when they tax it as well (if you havent collected). I lost a month because there was a delay of 3 weeks (my own doing) from when i paid the deposit, to when i collected. But the bar stewards taxed it the minute i paid the deposit so it could be a Feb sale. Despite not collecting till 3rd March (last year). I only found out the other week when i got the renewal reminder.
I'll be interested to read what the OP confirms it is.
I thought the "on the road" package covered the 300 point (or 100 point or whatever) list that they claim to check, everything from tyre pressure to additive in the screen wash, maybe a minimal valet to get rid of sweetie wrappers left by the last owner or the dog mud on the seats - not quite a service because the handbook isn't stamped; not an MOT because the vehicle is too new, but covering similar points.
It would have been part of the sales pitch, I'd have thought, and they might say the OP agreed to it when it was offered.

It’s the admin Costs apparently for the paper work and the valet thanks for all your replies
Pretty much what I expected. A con.
The paperwork and valet are part-and-parcel of running a car business. If it wasn`t what I term a `con` it would be included in the sale price. Would you expect an invoice for their electricity, rates, wages etc?

A dealer tried that with us and we requested back our deposit as the extra amount was not included in the price.
Annoyingly we were buying on HP and the extra fee was included in the finance so over 5 years the £250 would probably have cost us £400 with interest. Amount was removed by the con artist dealer.
