For us and others who visit Lanzarote, passport scanned on entry but not on exit.
So they are all counted in, but not out.
I wonder how that works ?
My passport has t been stamped for years. I think the last time was when I came home from Poland in 1990! I think it’s a shame as it’s a record of where you’ve been.
the whole systems a nightmare especially if like me in theory when I travel with my wife who has an EU passport I can stay 6 months if I travel alone then its 90 days, if with wife I don't supposedly need a stamp travel alone I do need a stamp in and out.
To be on the safe side until the ETIAS comes in I will insist my passport is stamped in and out with or without wife in tow .

Just had this stamping thing clarified. You wont get 'stamped' if you have an 'e-reader' passport. It knows where you are all the time.
I have an ereader passport, used the facial recogniser gates in and out of alicante/EMA last week and was also stamped.

They also die if you leave them in the freezer.
Please keep your dogs at room temperature!
You also get stamped if they feel like it even if you ahve an e passport. But the e passport thing is true - to be honest getting stamped etc will be a thing of the past in a few very short years. I consider it right and fair that international travel has constraints relating to movement between countries in mass transport, less so with plain border crossings.
As I have mentioned in another topic, it probably will not be long now before we all have microchips inserted (at birth) and there will be no more need for any paperwork. Walk past the sensor and it will be instantly on the computer.
The microchip could contain your bank details so even the shop cashier just has to wave the reader towards you. No more need for card or phone payments.
All the problems of tracking and tracing people solved. What could possibly go wrong?

If they include some kind of gps in the chip it'd have quite a significant effect on crime figures, no more "Where were you on the night of........."
That would be handy on a personal level, as i cant remember what i had for dinner yesterday. We may as well be chipped. Because once we leave our homes, we are on more cameras than Joan Collins at an awards night.

Last trip was to France in 21. I got my UK passport stamped in and out at Cherbourg ferry terminal. All my other trips have been between Ireland and and cotland so no stamps.
My wife is an EU citizen so it will be interesting to see what happens next time we fly.
