A heads up to anyone travelling West of Bodmin on the A30 this weekend. The Chiverton Cross roundabout will be completely closed over this weekend from 8pm tonight - Friday.   The roundabout is being replaced.   The diversions planned will pass through small villages and chaos is predicted down here. Hopefully after the weekend things will be better.   We live in Falmouth and are not planning to go far at all. There is a sea shanty festival over the weekend and can walk down town to enjoy the singing.   Good luck to anyone travelling to St Ives, Penzance and Land's End area from 'up country' over the weekend. Also people returning home from those areas too of course!

We've just come back from Penzance and we had no problems at all. Mind you, we were on a train.

Hi
Speaking as a local to the area, Yes the new layout seems bizarre, vehicles now drive through (heading West) the old Chiverton Roundabout. I guess if new to the area, no problem but for us locals, it does feel as if we have gone wrong.
I'm sure in 6/12 time...it will be the normal and end up as routine.

I know of two similar roundabouts not far from me, just over the border in western Essex. The main traffic flow goes straight through the middle of the former roundabout, controlled by traffic lights.
