Nothing political about that video, just facts on the costs of these zones!
If the true goal was reduction of air pollution in these zones then the French model is the way to go, if it doesn't comply, then it's banned outright, no wealthy folks buying their way past restrictions with paying the fee!!!! Fact is Mayor Khan and others are all about revenue raising and political posturing to cover their incompetence - who else has sent a public transport system that simply can't cope with the mass of people trying to use it and pay DEARLY for the privileged, into bankruptcy (where central Government has had to step in and perpetually bail them out!) SO MANY TIMES as Mayor Khan!!!!!! If you need the answer pointing out to you - ABSOLUTELY NO ONE - and you can't blame Covid, he's done it so many times when Covid has not been of influence!!
During Covid restrictions when traffic was DRASTICALLY reduced due to restricted personal movements being permitted (believe me, I live here and the roads were practically empty!), the air quality of London did not improve noticeably (official figures!) until Heathrow Airport was all but shut down!
You can believe the politics of clean air zones all you like, but the facts (if you can be bothered to look further!) indicate that city pollution is largely due to factors other than traffic! On the subject of traffic, if you were inclined towards conspiracy theories, then why have so many traffic light controlled junctions been reprogrammed of late to CAUSE congestion rather than relieve it! TFL makes little effort to improve traffic flow and consequential traffic pollution - it's not in the interest of Mayor Khan's revenue raising campaign!
I had a vested interest in improving the air quality of London, my late mother suffered with COPD, yet she lived well into her 90's after all her life in proximity of allegedly one of the dirtiest roads in the UK, yet she suffered MORE in areas claiming 'clean air'!
These zones are all about politics, exploiting political opportunities, and VERY LITTLE to do with improving quality of life for those within the afflicted zones - actively look beyond the headlines and stop believing the political BS!
