Of those 4 17 year old boys from Shrewsbury. How tragic. It appears that they crashed their car. Whoever was driving I assume had only recently passed their test. Poor parents, school friends and all who knew them.

So sad!

It reminded of this that happened in a stretch of road that I frequent, and struggle to understand how they managed to get up to 120mph (it has a 50mph limit).

Awful accident, but all too common once the 'L' plates are off.

My dad was a driving instructor for 25 years and always advised pupils to do a few country roads in the dark once they passed, On one of his last lessons he was doing just that, but in daylight and he saw a car approaching which looked to be going too fast.

With a tight bend coming up he told his pupil to pull over and stop as he knew this car was coming and he needed to avoid a head on.

As predicted the approaching car didn't negotiate the bend, left the road and clipped the rear of dad's car and the speeder ended up in a hedge.

Thankfully everyone was OK but the driver was a 17 year old with 3 of her mates in the car, she had passed her test a week before.

I didnt see that scenario coming. I was expecting them to have gone off and 'got lost' - possibly with no phone signal. Certainly didnt see them not coming home.

Obviously the driver was very young. But you dont have to be a newish driver to fly off the road on a country lane. If there hadnt been water in the mix, most if not all, would have probably survived. A very unlucky accident.
