Watching 'Celebrity antiques road trip" with Dick & Dom this evening, I was intrigued to see them visit the village where I lived for 30 years.
The village centre was instantly recognisable although the brewery had closed and been converted to expensive apartments. At least my 'Local' still existed.
The part of the show centred round their dealings in an antiques shop that in my day, was the Co-op. They made considerable loses !
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

I think that quite a lot of people are better antique "experts" than some of them!
Yeah i have noticed that with the so called experts. I think they are on TV because they cannot get a job as an antique expert anywhere else. LOL!
Never quite understood the 'concept' of the show, 'Buy Retail - Sell Wholesale' always went totally against my concept of business, and clearly their 'expertise' is not so good that they can spot all the bargains that the trader has mis-identified or overlooked! They also seem to compound the issue by buying in expensive regions and auctioning in more 'frugal' areas!
Love the program, but have learnt that some auction houses are clearly places to buy, but not sell! - a lesson they seem to have missed as they repeatably make the same mistakes on return visits to the same auction houses!
Entertaining program, but an abject lesson in how NOT to trade for profit!
