We never usually do much for New Year, just spend it at home on our own, but this year we have invited a couple of our friends over. They live just down the road but not sure if they will be coming yet though as they are currently in Scotland over 400 miles away.
Depends where they are in Scotland but a lot of ferries are off today due to the widespread weather warnings of rain / snow & strong winds. (Having driven home in similar weather last week, the road spray off HGVs isn’t pleasant.) Several A-roads are closed by flooding, more rain on wet ground means land slips too, so the 400 miles might be even more due our unavoidably long diversions. If your friends are on a site, there are some power failures too as trees have come down on overhead cables.
Anyway, I hope you have a good Hogmanay at home: it’s a good place to be.
Hi Fiona, they are not campers, they are staying with family members. I'm not sure whether they will be driving back or flying as I know they sometimes do. Thanks for the heads-up on conditions though, I know the weather there is often far worse than we normally experience this far south.
Home is always where we prefer to be at this time of year. These days we never stray far from it until the weather warms up, as we are not the hardy souls we once were. I hope you too have a great Hogmanay, I know Scots do it far better than us English do.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin
