We both had the flu and Covid jabs at the same time a couple of weeks ago. No real issues afterwards.

I'm immunocompromised so have had every Covid jab offered, and have had 10 in all.

Despite that I still caught Covid a couple of times but it was nothing bad until while on holiday in France in July this year I caught the latest strain. I was unable to get the antivirals I'm supposed to have within 3 days of testing positive and ended up very ill so we had to come home early. I'm still feeling the after effects now and have been told it will take as long as it takes to get completely better. This might suggest that the vaccinations are not worth it but apparently without them the outcome could have been a lot, lot worse so I'm grateful for them.

I was able to book my Covid and Flu jabs early as I have an underlying health condition being Type 2 Diabetic.

My Covid vaccination is up to date, and I still caught it twice. Nothing too bad, just like a very bad cold, less painful (muscular-skeletal) than when I had flu just the once when I spent at least 48h in bed!

The main issue for me with Covid was the loss of taste and smell, not good for someone who loves to cook, eat and drink! Smelling the spice pots helped to regain the sense of smell for me personally.

Normally I have one cold per year, and would top up the holy trinity of meds (nasal decongestant, Paracetamol and cough mixture for dry coughs) I take to alleviate the symptoms.

However, I have not had another Covid, flu or cold since my last Covid back in March 2022, phew!

I hope I have not jinxed it!

Friend lost his sense of smell (and taste) after a stroke, got back “sweet” but not the others.
NHS website recommends “smell training”: https://www.fifthsense.org.uk/smell-training/using-what-you-have-at-home/

I lost my smell and taste for a long time after having covid in 2020. I did the nose retraining and it did work eventually but I will say it's never gone completely back to normal. For example onions have never smelt the same and I do still get occasional phantom smells, thankfully not nasty stuff, mine has always been like having a plug-in air freshener right next to me but nobody else could smell anything!
I'd give the nose training a go but you have to persist, it's not a quick fix. Good luck!

I have long been amazed by the large number of people who can breathe through their chins.

They religiously wear their face masks whenever they go out but always seem to wear the mask pulled down off their noses.

What is the mentality of them?

No wonder this Covid is spreading so easily.

ETA..
I've just had my RSV jab (restricted to over 75 - 80 yrs old age group) and I am not surprised that it is restricted to such a small group.

Estimated cost to the NHS? £159

Covid Jab                   £59

Flu Jab          Approx     £9

Value for money?

Is the RSV jab the same as the pneumonia one? We have had the 2nd and been offered the first by email which told us to wait to be contacted by our GP.

The RSV jab is different to the pneumonia jab, the pneumonia jab is a one off jab that should give lifelong protection.

respiratory syncytial virus, also known as RSV.
Sadly the cause of far too many infant deaths, and hopefully far fewer now that vaccination is available. My great nephew was hospitalised with it.
Cervical cancer should eventually be a thing of the past too, as young men & women are now routinely vaccinated at school.
