We've been recommended to get a Revolut card for use abroad. Has anyone got one of these? What are the costs involved when you use it for a non Sterling payment?

Be aware Revolut is not a bank it is a financial transaction company, this means no FSCS protection for any money held with it should things go bad.
There is no need to pay anything for forex transactions when abroad as there are banks that offer fee free accounts and cards.
Barclaycard Rewards for credit cards.
Starling and Chase for debit cards.

I used Starling on my last Greek holiday to Corfu with no problems whatsoever. Great little card with FSCS cover.
I use my card for everyday expenses. No worry about being cloned and loosing money as I keep the balance low and have no overdraft.

My Preference is a Chase Card There are no Fees for Foreign Transactions, nor Cash machine Withdrawals (Machine Operators may Charger) and you get 1% cash Back on all Purchases.
As there is no Overdraft Facility, you are restricted to what is on your card should it go missing. I tend to transfer to as I need money, normally never having more than £100 - £150 on the Card.
I have a Starling AccountS as a back up, Which also no Fee, but with out the Cash back.
Finally, as a Credit Card Option I have a Halifax Credit Card, for those larger purchases where I may need Section 75 Protection. Again no Fees for Purchases.
I hope this helps
