Sign of the times!
Local council has just resurfaced 3 sections of a local A road that were still in good repair whilst totally ignoring loads of B and unclassified roads that are in a shocking state.
I used to drive an MG midget. It was the speed bumps I was wary of.

The same happened to my cousin about 2 years ago when travelling at night on the M42, but not only was the tyre destroyed but also buckled the aluminium wheel as well. The car had to be taken to a garage on the back of a flat bed lorry which wasn't a cheap repair.
At least our council are doing something about the potholes. Only a few days ago they were filling one just outside our house. Mind you, the large one a couple of yards away was not touched.
Potholes on A and B roads are generally manageable, as you can adjust speed to accommodate, potholes on 70mph motorways and dual carriageways are lethal and they always used to be dealt with quickly, not anymore.
i was on the A66 at Easter, huge areas of damaged surface in the 70 section near Scotch Corner and I encountered very poor surface on the M62 recently. Thankfully I have nice chunky tyres.
Potholes drive me mad where we live. A few years ago the council went around all the local streets putting up 20mph signs. I sent them an email telling them what a waste of money that was because due to the enormous potholes, if anyone managed to get above 10mph on these streets it would be a miracle.
Essex seems to be terrible for potholes at the moment. We are not far from the western border and all the roads round this way are bad. Having said that, our side of the border in Hertfordshire isn't much better.
