Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
It could be because it's meant to be more a colouring Stain that allows the natural wood texture to show through, rather than a true Paint which is intended to cover and obscure!
Sadly can't recommend an obscuring paint alternative from experience, always favoured the 'stain' look.

We used to use Sadolin on our hardwood framed windows and soffits and it is an excellent product. However I would have thought it a bit on the expensive side for general garden use?
