Looking for advice on my car and what caravan weight it can tow, maths is not my strongest subject, I am looking to buy a caravan as I an retiring, never had a caravan before, just need to know in simple terms what weight caravan I can tow with the car, advice will be appreciated before I purchase a caravan and not able to use it.
My car is
Nissan qashqai, 1.3 connecta 5 door Hatchback , Petrol , 2023 plate (73)
There should be a plate on the car somewhere giving the maximum towing capacity, but I would not expect the towing weight to be very high given the small petrol engine. Diesel is usually better for towing, but some of the petrol cars of today are quite good. However, I would expect quite a substantial increase in fuel consumption if you tow at anywhere near the car's maximum towing weight.
Exact towing weights are often closely tied to specifics of your particular car, like engine variant, manual/auto gearbox, trim level (affects kerb weight!) etc. so generalisations and 'similar' models can't always be used as guidance. Beware of info obtained off the internet!
Your V5 registration document often has the permitted max towing capacity stated under something like "Technical Permissible Maximum Towable Mass Of The Trailer".
