Also check the insurance cost. My son recently changed his diesel car for a hybrid and the insurance rocketed.

There are a few people that tow on the Kia Owners Club Forum. I have a Kia Niro HEV and I think it has a fairly low towing weight of around 1300kgs. The PHEV would probably be a better tow car?

Hi i have looked at the sportage to tow our van 1400 Kgs and can only use the 1.6 mild hybrid 48v version with 1650 Kgs towing capacity, all others are significantly reduced, however boot is small.
The Tuscons new face lift versions are more or less 1500 Kgs, i like to have a bit in reserve.
the new VW tiguan 1.5 versions appear to tow about 1800 Kgs, but its a 1.5 !
Now looking at the plug in hybrid ford New Kuga 2.5 PHEV which can tow 2100 Kgs,
Not much really on offer for caravanners unless you go a year or two older. give me a good old >2.0 ltr diesel anyday.

Kia Sorento 2.2 diesel automatic (2024) for us, traded in our 2018 model earlier this year.
Fantastic for towing and general driving, especially longer distances.
Over 60mpg on a run, 30+ mpg towing our 1500kg van - even better than the 2018 Sorento.
The 7 year warranty is also a big plus.
