The only thing I don't like about truma movers is that they nylon gears, rather than metal.  When they wear slippage can occur on slopes.

I have had the twin axle Truma mover fitted for the last 2 years and had no problems,a twin axle will never move like a single due to the drag on the second axle, unless you fit the four motor version. a combination of motor mover and one of these will move anything

We have the Truma TE on our van (1900 kg MTPLM). It moves our van off the street and up our 1 in 10 drive just fine.

It does not turn like on a single axle, but neither do the 4 wheel movers, though they do turn sharper.

We did not want the huge weight of a 4 wheel.....at least double the 30+ kg of the Truma.

We live on an incline (can't really call it a hill) and the drive drops down onto the kerb (think downhill then 90 degree turn left, then steeper drop) Our drive is 20mm shingle/stones. Would any of the motor movers cope with these conditions? Jennifern, would be interested to know how your mover copes with the 1 in 10 incline. Our 'van is 1750Kgs MTPLM.

I would not go for anything other than a 4 wheel mover on a twin. I had one fitted to my van and have had quite a few fellow caravaners of twin axel vans telling me how they regret going for only a 2 wheel mover as they just don't do what they expected.
My 4 wheel mover will turn 90 degree corners with ease, mount 4 inch curbs, Move over leveling ramps, etc and has never dissapointed.

Our Mover works well on our slope. It is a plain 1 in 10 off the street on average, but also a slight slope across the width of the drive as the street slopes. However, it is block paved so very easy to move on, your gravel would make it much more difficult.

We do not need to do any sharp turns either. We do move the van through 90 degrees, but we have the width of the drive to manoeuvre on....it's 10 metres wide....so the van swings round gradually, then goes back a bit onto the pavement and takes another swing, and so on until it is in position.

We don't have much leeway on the length, as the van is only 5 cm shorter than the drive, but we can run the hitch a short distance up the path at the side of the house.

If you need a tight turn, you would be best with a 4 wheel Mover. It would also do better on the gravel.

Ours does what we need, and we prefer not to carry the extra weight of the 4 wheel ones.

Another thing to consider with moving a twin axle is when moving over uneven ground or over leveling ramps, you can reach a point where the weight of the van is on just one axel say the rear axel resulting in the front axel lifting a little. If you only have a 2 wheel mover then as this stage they will just spin and the van will go no further.

I was in your position last year trying to work out what best to spend my money on. I phoned a chap from the north east who advertises on fleabay, his advice was don't bother with a mover unless it is 4 wheel job, if you can't afford a 4 wheel then save your money.

I think that is a very sweeping statement, and incorrect.

You need to look firstly at whether you have the payload available for the mover, and then what you need the mover to do.

I would not dispute that the 4 wheel ones are better, but not everyone has the weight spare for a 4 wheeler.

For us it was the weight that was the deciding factor, not the cost, the difference of about £350 was not significant in the overall spend.

Without the mover, we could never get the van onto our drive. We would not consider storage, so without the mover we would not have a caravan.

We use it for getting on and off the drive, positioning on pitches, and hitching up.

It does what we require, and what we expected, we had no unrealistic expectations, this is not our first van or our first mover, and we consider it money well spent.

Hi, a Purpleline Ego promo model can now be had for £499 - see page 77 of Caravan Club magazine March edition.

I started a thread titled e-go motor movers nearly 2 years ago on this site, sorry dont know how to paste a link, its got over 150 comments and most seem to be favourably in respect of e-go movers.

we are finally going to order an e-go this weekend from homestead leisure, just deciding whether to go for the "promo" model at £499 or the "fully fledged" E-go at £599.

Your right jennifern! sorry! I shouldn't have swept away 2 wheel movers for twins. Of course they will be useful. What i was trying to say is don't kid yourself and be over optimistic about what a 2 wheel can do on a twin axel.
