What would be the cheaper option a new one or get that one fixed up at a back street garage

Tyres are only around £40 each for that if you know where to look

What else did it fail on

£40 for a Terrano tyre!! Think you need to double that just for a cheap one.

lol, yeah   We paid more than £40 for our folding camper's tyres!  I think the Terrano was nearer £100 a tyre!

I suppose it depends if you want a brand new one or will settle for a part used one.

I replaced the two front ones on my Suzuki Grand Vitara a couple of weeks ago for around £60 all in including delivery then £10 for someone to fit them to the wheels, they had 5mm of tread left on compared to the 7mm when new, also got a new exhaust back box for it for £55 and a set of new front brake discs for £50.

We bought remould tyres, they were MUCH better than "new" tyres, they had MUCH more grip and our terrano never went sideways again! well.... not unless I really tried hard!

Kingpin remoulds are the best, If you go for the Allterrain tyres they are great. They cost £50 each plus fitting/balancing. I will never buy "new tyres" again.

Having a remould fall apart at 65mph on the front of a Transit a few years ago has put me off them for ever.I would never buy a remould again.

Would not be too bad if just using them off road but the mileage we do towing no thanks.Just had 4 General Grabbers fitted and seem fine, will have to see how the fair in the snow

Usually buy part worn tyres and wheels for my LDV Convoy, the last one was nearly new for £35

Our Terrano is 16 this year and like J & S, will shed a tear when she goes. As for costs, we have a great Nissan place near us (not the main dealer) who is excellent on prices and trustworthy with the work they do. Example: A computer check when I was having a fuel problem a few years ago came to £25, main dealer wanted £65 plus VAT! Did shell out about £800 two years ago for replacing main gearbox bearings and a few other jobs but as it hasn't done 100,000 miles even, I thought it was worth it. Loves her to bits. Tyres? Paid £50 each inc balancing, valves and fitting for four a month ago, again at a local garage. They're there if you look.

To be honest, I have done over 100000 miles on remoulds and never had a problem. But a few years ago I bought 2 pirelli tyres and they both failed at less than 40 mph.

You were very unlucky if you had a remould let go, I can only assume that the tyre pressures were wrong or you were massively overweight or had the wrong rating of tyre on your van. Maybe you were unlucky, but there are over 50,000 cars and vans driving around on remould tyres in the UK and I have never heard of one letting go until now.

This isnt a dig at you by the way.

Both of my Terranos had twin electrics, just as an aside we now have the Jeep G C  auto which is probably a better tow car in just about every way , but its not as much fun to drive as the Terrano.

Try a real 4x4 before you buy.

Try a Land Rover just avoid the P38 Rnge rover.
