Hi all thinking of changing to a Berlingo but are they good reliable motors only towing a trailer, but a good motor is a must have heard that the electrics ain't too good and the like!!
Top camping cars, Tenfluff. I had the older model for several yrs & my present current model xtr 110 diesel is now 3.5yrs old & 40k miles up with no probs. Colchester residents with Citroens do have the advantage of very good main dealer workshop. Tolleys at Gosbecks rd.
If you want to buy an older one, probably your best bet for reliability/cheap running costs is 1.9diesel, it is rather slow tho & ensure cambelt has been changed at 80k/8yr interval. If you are looking at 2005 onwards 1.6turbo diesel ensure full main dealer service history as correct oil change interval with correct oil used is essential to avoid turbo failure on these engines. Pre 2005 2.0hdi diesel is probably best bet if you can find a good one. Petrol 1.6 is reliable but obviously more thirsty.
I have a 2007 Berlingo 1.6 Fiore. A good basic model which towed our Raclet TT on trips from Oxford to Scotland with no problems The car itself has a good load carrying capacity.
I now use it to tow an Ace Jubilee Diplomat 2 berth caravan. It tows that very well although it can struggle on the steeper/longer hills.
what you towing with it? some berlingos have quite a low tow weight.
peugeot/citroen engines are fine, the berlingos are not that adorned with electrics, so you should be fine.

Hi Tentz do think Tolleys at Gosbecks rd are good. Reason I ask is I had a lot of mucking about with the Nissan main dealer in Colchester and since then I have lost all faith/trust with them and have been useing an independant garage.
Tolleys are also an independent family firm that have been about since I were a lad which is 40odd yrs. Unusual for a main dealer which are normally owned by big groups. The service reception will explain in great detail what they are doing to the car. I've never had a problem with them.
Hi Tentz went to Tolleys had a look at a Berlingo, cor! they are big inside. They had two on show an 09 and a 12 plate both XTR HDi 90. Very nice motors. Wish I was ready to buy one now, the 12 plate was very nice. I almost went bact today to buy the 12 plate but I am going to wait till the new year. Thank you for the advice Tolleys seemed quite good.
Hi, im new on here, but am intrested in which of the used citreon berlingos between the years of 03-08 would be able to tow a pennine fiesta folding camper 2005yr model? i have been driving my focus estate 18tdi tor this, and it as been fine, but my car is 12yrs old now so i need to change soon..i was also looking at the vauxhall zafira, but think the running cost would be to high..as i need 5 seats and boot space for the dog crate.as i dont understand the towing weighs-brake weighs etc. many thanks in advance.
All diesel Berlingos & 1.6 petrol version of that era have max braked tow weights of 1100kg. Unbraked tow weight iirc is 500kg. If you check handbook of any car you are considering you will find tow weights in there.
