Hi all and a happy new year,

Now dont tell the folks over on the FC forum board, but i want a lightweight caravan, around the 900kg mark.  Any ideas whats good to look at, i no i am quite limited in this area!

Or a Dandy Destiny, 6 berth, insulated walls & roof. It is not a folding camper with canvas sides & roof but a very soldly built folding caravan with PVC roof etc. Average caravan lasts 12 years, Dandy 25 or more.

Very easy to tow & store, much lower fuel consumption and the PVC means you can put it away in the rain & not need to dry it out when you get home.

The Destiny has 2 fixed double beds and a dining table which converts to a third double. Wardrobe, washroom with WC & basin., Sadly no shower.

Worth thinking about seriously if you are limited on weight.

The Bailey Rangers are very light and for a while they did the Bailey Discovery which was even lighter.

Take a look at the new Venus caravan range from the Lunar group, it will have to be either a new one, or just about a year old, as thats when they were first launched.

Basic, lightweight caravans with a decent level of spec for an entry level caravan, and designed to be towed by most small family cars, they claim that the smallest two berth version can be towed by most super-minis!

Our first caravan was an Elddis Breeze which was around 900kg fully laden, it was pre 1990 and quite basic but comfortable and warm, we had some great holidays in it. we still see some similar vans around on sites now and I think that you could drop on one for a reasonable price.
