------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
IMO the sorento is a great tow car it has a good track record as a tug the auto is a little thirsty and is more to tax than my manual.I tow a 1900kg van and it feels very stable if you need more help i'm sure if you test drive one you will love it as i did.
With regards your sorento's we are looking at them for my father and have found two possibles one on an 07 plate the other a 59 plate, i note you said both manuals can you please tell me if your later one was a 5 speed or 6speed, as the later one we looked at was 6speed and never having had a 6speed box for towing wondered what it was like or to stick to the 5 speed. If 6 speed what are they like, any preferences. Thanks Duncan.

I have a 57 Santa Fe 2.2 Auto (5 speed) Mechanically it is the same as the same year Sorento so little to choose. Just be aware that the auto has a lower towing limit than the manual (200kg less)

Both are good cars, so you won't go wrong with either. Personally, I'd recommend the SF - I test drove the Sorento and found the ride a bit floaty. Also, not as good looking IMO and you'll get slightly better economy with the SF.

ive got a 2006 santa fe on a 55 plate, its been professionally converted to lpg a few years ago, automatic, black 2.7 cdx - leather interior etc, 115k miles, will be looking to sell it in the near future as i have just bought a small campervan for travelling to france and back. will put 12 months mot on it - never towed a caravan, though i do tow a trailer of hay now and again!!!
clean and tidy though not showroom condition!! any offers?
wold make great tow car and on lpg its cheap enough to run !!!
Not exactly the same company. Hyundai rescued Kia from bankruptcy some years ago and Kia now runs independently as a sister company following a few years of joint development. At least, I think that's the position.
