towing limit is 1300kg , renault calculate towing limits in a strange way , you must not exceed 2950kg total weight , car loaded and caravan behind , you may struggle for power though if you go anywhere near 1300kg
Wanted to tow max of 1000kgs so that's good news. For a minute I thought I might not be able to tow at all! Back to the caravan search now, thank you for your help
So in simple terms for a very inexperienced 'tower' such as me then..... Assuming kerb wt to be 1300kg, my fully loaded car with passengers and luggage and caravan behind can not weigh more than 2950kgs. Is that right?
Work it out for yourself. If your fully loaded caravan weighs a tonne & car weighs 1300kg empty then you can load 650kg into car. Leave yourself a good margin & call it 500kg max in car, thats half a tonne. So put 4 15stone people in the car + 120kg of luggage in the boot, thats 2.5 bags of cement & you are still 150kg light.
No idea how kerbweights are measured for Renault. All these weights and things are new to me and very confusing!
I have found a suitable caravan which is 900kgs maximum laden weight. I believe this would leave me around 500kgs for passengers and luggage, I hope, if I understand correctly, this should be ok!
Fill up with fuel and passengers then pop along to a weighbridge. Probably cost you £2 or £3. If you having growing ones then add a bit on then work out how much you have left for luggage.
Weigh the essentials and then give each person a limit?
As long as you dont load the car to the limit the 900kg caravan is possible.
Make sure the caravan is 900kg laden and not the unladen weight which some sellers seem to give you.
