Got the shock of my life today. I have just purchased a new tyre for the caravan because I notice small cracks starting to form on the side of the tread where it joins the sidewall. The new tyre was a higher rating load index 99 (old tyre was 96) so I decided to fit it on the kitchen side of the caravan as that side carries slightly move weight.
I always check my tyres regularly before each trip, but could not believe the condition of the tyre when I took if off. When on the van it looked ok. I have learnt a very valuable lesson today, when checking tyres you really do need to remove them as you never know whets lurking in the places you cant see.
This does put a question mark over what condition the tyre was in when the dealer supposedly checked it 6 months ago and replaced a valve. I have done 1250 miles since that was done, so must have been pretty worn when they checked it, and at the least you would have thought they would have said you might need a tyre soon.
If you have a look at my gallery picture and all will become clearer.

Hi Bill
Dont see why not, as long as the tyres are the same size. But that will not matter now as I need another tyre so will have 2 brand new identical tyres. maybe a good thing.
