I have a 2013 KX2 Sportage 2L diesel. Have just come back from hols with 2 adults and a boot full. Double checked nose weight on van at 75kg.When van attached to car it was very nose down, and had great trouble getting jockey wheel up cos there was no room to swing it round to wind it up.When ready to roll ,jockey wheel only about 4inches off the ground . Sometimes could not lower van onto towball ,it wouldn't go low enough so had to unscrew handle securing jockey wheel and jiggle it about letting the van drop onto the towball.Just towed 3000 miles, towed ok ,just doesn't look right.
Ant advice please.

I think there was a recall by Kia to replace faulty rear springs....no doubt an owner will be along soon.

I tow with a 2013 KX-3 2L Sportage. I haven't had any problems to-date. The caravan seems to be level and it handles on the road ok. Get the garage to check the suspension if you are not happy with it. Our caravan is approx. 1200kg with 80kg on the nose.

Thanks Chinster
Mine is a KX-3 2L CRDI . My van is 1500 kg ,noseweight as I said was 75kg. I have a Swan neck witter towbar fitted by a local really good company, the towball drops about 2 inches when the van is attached.

Ours drops probably an inch or so but it still basically looks ok to me. How high is your towball without the van on? Maybe its too low to start with. Ours is approx. 39.5cms from ground to the centre of the ball.

There shouldn't be any difference suspension-wise between the KX2 and KX3.

I have a close friend who has a 13 plate Kx2 Sportage AWD
and tows a rather heavy twin axle Bailey Unicorn Cartagena.
And with the noseweight at 80kg (the max allowed) the car sits quite low even with only two occupants

Thanks Chinster, just measured and the centre of towball to the ground is 38cm,so not a lot of difference.
Thanks Neil and Lena, like I said just towed back from near Montpelier, it was fine. However ,on two occasions it was so low I couldn't swing the jockey wheel round to get it under the cowling. On both occasions it was on a gravel road on the site don't know whether that made a difference?
Have emptied the car and have almost emptied the caravan. Will hitch up tomorrow and do some measurements.

Am I right in thinking the that my 1500kg caravan with a nose of 80kg and chinsters 1200kg caravan with a nose of 80 kg would look exactly the same attached to the car, in terms of being level? When the outfits are static the weight of the van doesn't affect the aspect just the noseweight?

I did read on another Forum that a small number of new Sportages had faulty rear springs and they were changed under warranty .
it might be worth getting your dealer just to check out your rear suspension in case there is a problem
