Has any body got any thoughts which service is best for recovering car/caravan??
Iam at present with the aa but have not had to test them whilst towing my caravan.
some two years ago, I was with the camping & caravanning clubs arrival service, at that time i was driving a vw camper and they were spot on with their recovery and breakdown, which i had to call on several times.
only changed because as we are all aware when it came to renewal the price was sky high compared to the aa quote and the rac stuck to their quote, so had to say bye bye!

DOH! ive just joined the blooming camping and caravan club LOL!
cannot manage two clubs.
Get in touch with them as they are doing a deal with recovery and you get a years C.C.C. membership for free.
If you explain you have just joined etc..
------------- It is a wise man who has something to say.
It is a fool who has to say something.
Yeah! i have never had to use the aa and dont want to find that if I have an incident that they dib into the small print and refuse to uplift the broken down rig!
If you are going to at some point venture to Europe you would be better to join ADAC.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I went with Green Flag if you are a member of CC you can choose Mayday or if not Roadside Assistance but this wont include dual recovery. Also Roadside assist has size and weight limits.
------------- Just saying
If all is not lost where is it then?
just read the small print.....most policies will not recover the caravan if it breaks down. or there may be a limit.
eg std rac, greenflag, aa recovery will only tow the caravan if the car has broken down. Some of the lesser known ones wont even recover the caravan even if the car has broken down!
or (if i recall) ADAC will recover the caravan if it has broken down/after accident, up to €300, which will get you to dealer possibly, but not home.
the best bet is the mayday, but obviously you are paying a premium....you get what you pay for of course.

Why don't you phone them and ask?

A few years back when i had a Discovery the gearbox went whilst towing.Called AA who transported us home, but on journey the driver said it was a good job it was not the caravan that had broken as i would not of been covered if it was not towable. Joined C&CC arrival scheme and been with it ever since.

Which is precisely why I suggest the OP phones whoever he's currently with, or whoever he's thinking of changing to, and asks them if he would be covered.

doesn't matter which 1 you chose, most breakdowns wil be covered by the same recovery agent
Not exactly true. Of the big organisations Green Flag, Brittania Rescue the agents are contracted to supply the service in liveried vehicles and cannot work for anyone else. Now AA and RAC ADAC do subcontract work during busy periods or at night and private recovery companies/ garages can work for anyone.
