There's one on fleabay and not too far from us. Its P reg with about 137k and auto, has towbar too but he's asking £795. That seems a bit salty to me. Any ideas if it's right or not? I might take the swmbo tomorrow for a looksee! John

hi,
what mark is it ,2.3 auto petrol would be superb as a tow car..137k is just about run in for a Volvo..i've had 4 all been reliable and the 2.3 auto was the best tow car i've ever had...bit juicy around town c.34 mpg and less on a towing run ..long run without van should be around the 38-40 mpg mark ..good luck let us know

it was annoying - 'couldn't find the key'. I'll get another cut he says..might take a day. That's a sale lost today then. It was tidy enough.
Good decision to walk away. Plenty of them around to choose from

Didn't realise how many variations there were. Its 2.5 and i think petrol. Went to see it this a.m. but he lost the key.....
Great car, one of the most comfortable I've ever had, but struggled to get much over 20mpg around town and 25 on a run.
I few years ago had a V70 coupe convertible, same engine and drivetrain basically. Still v thirsty. Still incredibly comfortable, much more so than the Merc I have now.
If your annual mileage is low I'd think about one, otherwise hang on for a diesel.

Ta Hairy. Good advice. I'm arguing with the wife that 'cos I have 2 bikes and ride them for about 45 weeks of the year then a petrol caravan tug makes sense. I probably drive about 5k tops. I have seen lots of daft stuff out there but for some reason the 850 still floats me boat. Of course with my luck, the old saying 'volvo's last for ever' will disappear...

My W reg V70 is a diesel, and I get around 38 mpg on average when just running about. I have just towed my Elddis from Hertfordshine down to the south coast, driven around while we were down there, the towed the 'van back. When I checked how much fuel I had used, and the mileage I had driven on holiday. Guess what - 38 mpg!
Went to see a Honda CRV 2.0 auto 1997 for £995. Its a bit of a marmite care but I liked it. As I was getting ready to haggle the seller said he'd service it and full mot for the 995. Ok - I pick it up this weekend. I checked the match with CC and C and its a good 'un! John
