Hi all, just curious as to the time of day that you prefer to tow. I usually liketo leave home around 10am, to miss the heavy traffic. We are off on Thursday to a site 2 hours away. We cannot go till early evening as hubby is working first and our daughter is having her 20 week pregnancy scan. She's popping after to show us the pic!
I'm quite happy, as long as we arrive on site before it gets dark!
what times do you all prefer to travel?
------------- Enjoy life while you can, none of us know what's round the corner!
We will tow at any time depending on how far away the site is and what time we can gain access, towed through the night to get the early ferry from Oban to Mull last year, really nice going round Loch Lomond about 3.00am with no traffic.
Hi, Guys, we are going to Newquay Cornwall from Holyhead approx 420 miles towing.
How long would you think this would take.
I can't pick the caravan out of storage before 8-0 am.
The Rally starts on Sunday the 1st of Sept.
We could leave the storage on Saturday the 31st AUG end of this month.
And travel by early evening and stoping on way down on M6 OR M5
ADVICE PLEASE.
I prefer to arrive at a site in time to be able to finish pitching up in daylight, and also to avoid unfamiliar unlit roads at night when I can't see the position of the caravan relative to the edge of the tarmac. Other than that I'm not really bothered, I travel for work so am used to driving at all hours.
Toweasy - suggest assume an average motorway speed of 50mph plus the time needed for stops (so probably about 9 hours total).

------------- "Don't wait for the perfect moment. Take the moment and make it perfect."
We always aim to arrive at a site between 2pm and 4pm. Being retired we try to travel to a site Monday or Tuesday and stay a week or two. Short breaks we tend to go Monday to Thursday or Friday. This way we are always arriving when the crowds are leaving, and leaving when the crowds are arriving.
Going to sites we find that its not so much time of day (except rush hours), its more day of the week.
Depends how far we’re going - we usually aim to arrive early to mid-afternoon. However, if at all possible we avoid travelling on Friday afternoons (unless locally).
