The best advice you could be given on here is how to find out the information for yourself & understanding it. So look in your car handbook.
In the weights section you will find 'kerbweight' & 'maximum braked tow weight'. Find out those 2 figures. Also state engine type, ie diesel, the bhp & whether manual or auto & then post that info up here to receive further guidance.
There are no tow weights indicated in Ford brochure which is unusual. You can download brochure for your car from Ford UK website. Some on a 3rd party website here but you need to get these checked as correct with your Ford dealer. They are indicated as braked tow weights but they are very low so may be unbraked tow weights. In any case do not buy a trailer or caravan until you have established correct weights from an official Ford source & not 3rd party internet sites.
The 1700kg indicates gross, ie fully laden weight of car. Kerbweight is around 1300kg but as pointed out you have to go on max tow weight as quoted by manufacturer.
Freedom caravans are 750kg fully laden, google for info on them. First though you need to establish max braked tow weight from your car. Ford brochure does not indicate any tow weights which suggests car is not approved for towing but a towbar is available for the car. There is conflicting info on the internet so your only sensible course of action is to get printed information from your Ford main dealer as to correct braked tow weight for your specific model.
I once had a Ford Focus 1.6 diesel but there were 3 versions. The one with 109 BHP could tow up to 1300 kgs., the one with 89 BHP could town up to 1200 kgs. and the ECO model had no towing figures in the brochure. When I asked the Ford dealer why, the answer was because there were no towbar mountings on the chassis to install a towbar due to the fact that the ECO model was lighter and more fuel efficient so the chassis wasn't robust enough to tow a trailer of any description so that's most likely the reason why there are no towing figures in the handbook.
You need to check with Ford UK to confirm the details on the issue of towing on this specific model as your car insurance most likely would cover a trailer anyway even if you could get a towbar for it.
On the v5 it says maximum tow able mass of the trailer braked 750kg so does that mean if I buy a caravan weighing 750kg can I place clothes food ectopic in it ?.
