We have ordered our new Caravan a Swift Challenger 580 dealer special for delivery in March 17 very excited and I am looking to change the trusty Ford Mondeo before we collect it. I have come down to two cars another Ford but a Ford Kuga 2.0tdci 180ps AWD Powershift Auto or a Volvo XC60 D5 AWD Auto does anyone have either of these and how do you get on with them. Kuga gives a 84% match and the XC60 about a 80% match but the noseweight on the Kuga is higher at 100kg compared to the Volvo at 90kg.

Hi Nescafé84
Can't comment in the Kuga 180ps & the Volvo but I tow with the 163 AWD Kuga pulling Swift Charisma 545 MTPLM 1492kg & it tows brilliant I can sit in motorway at 60 with cruise control in 6th gear with no difficulties
Regards Graham
I have had my XC60 D5 Auto for just on two years, have covered 42000 miles so far, around 5-10000 miles towing. The car has been truly wonderful. It tows our 1500Kg Swift without fuss in all weathers.
Test drove a Kuga 180 a few weeks ago, nice car, but have ordered a Volvo V60 Cross Country AWD instead. It felt more familiar (obviously!) and more secure!

Didn't even give the V60 AWD a thought just had a look and it would tick all my boxes what is the noseweight limit on the D5 AWD?

V60 AWD is only available with the D4 engine, but feels just as powerful on the test drive as my current D5 in the XC60. Guess the fact that it is lower and lighter helps.
Noseweight limit is 90Kg

That's great thank you, will take a look would be a good match for our new van when it arrives next year which is 1550kg so makes a good 85% match 😀

I have the XC 60, tows brilliant, mpg is not much different to when not towing. Sorry can't comment on the Kuga, but I would have thought that like all Fords, not so economical on fuel.
New model kuga is just out now have to say it looks very nice, fords storage yard next to mine.
I've been waiting to look at the new edge and 5 turned up last week on a transporter
I have exact Ford Kuga as described and did France with the van in Sept covering 2300 miles. It was the best towing experience I have ever had, faultless and enjoyable.
I looked at the Volvo as described as it is also a worthy car, but went with the Kuga and very glad I did. I much prefer the more upright driving position. So from my experience, and a very, very experienced tower, the Ford Kuga 2.0 180 Powershift for me.

Bessie
Exactly Bessie though - 'it looks nice'...
But what is it like 'underneath' (mechanically etc)??
People want image over reliability in this country, and the car makers know that now....
Just look at the way some are advertised, many seem to always revolve around more on the 'speed / bling / the look at me factor', regardless of how reliable and comfortable it maybe....
