He has a Skoda Octavia VRS, and is looking to get a tow bar fitted to it, to then get a caravan at some point in the future....
I know nothing about the VRS's, so would like to know, can they tow anything anyway, as IICRC, you couldn't tow - or even get a tow bar for the Ford Mondeo ST a while ago due to it being a performance car?
So is it the same with the VRS with it also being a 'performance car'...???
On a Skoda the towing weight plate will be on the bottom of the driver's door pillar. If it isn't Type Approved for towing their will be no weight stated in the second line down.
However I am sure that they are allowed to tow.
EDIT.
Scroll to nearly the end of this VERY long list and it is shown, with it's limits

I have a VRs and got factory fitted removable towbar when i ordered the car, seemed pricey at time but worked out only £100 dearer than aftermarket fixed towbar and didnt need to get bumper cut.
Towed my bailey ranger and then my lunar quasar 544 with ease.
It is based on the kerb weight of the car, which for the VRS estate is around 1400kg. depending on exact model. If you are working on the 85% recommendation this gives you a caravan with a maximum weight of 1190kg.
My 2012 4x4 estate kerbweight is 1,495kg, the VRS is lighter, I tow with a 88% ratio, caravan mtplm 1,318kg that will give more of an idea of weight to tow.
Towed with a 2007 vRS TDi PD Estate, a 2009 vRS TDi CR Hatch and a 2011 vRS TDi CR Hatch.
Great cars, all towed very well, with weights varying from 1175Kg right up to 1400 Kg.
Super stable, though 3 of the 4 vans towed with them had Alko ATC as well as an Alko stabiliser, traction was never an issue apart from once on wet cobbles, but soon sorted itself out.
Mine were all fitted with fixed swan neck brackets.
Still miss them, great cars, was tempted by the latest vRS 4x4 but sadly too light for our van.
