Anyone on here tow with Kia Sportage? Looking at purchasing one , checked out towing weight etc all matches just wandering how they tow.kia sportage 1.7 diesel
We tow with a 2015 KX3 Sportage 2ltr, which was 134 brake horse. We have since had it re-mapped to 180 which has made a big difference. Our van is a Sterling Eccles SE Ruby which is just shy of 1500kg, we did have some problems with stability but have now sorted it by careful loading of the van and keeping an eye on tyre pressures.

Some previous posts here but it's probably only the more recent ones you're after.
Wondering.

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
They are a little soft on the rear suspension so either careful loading to keep nose weight down or some spring assisters. They’re a nice car but they are more of a car on stilts than a true 4x4 as are many these days. We looked and went for a Tiguan in the end but liked both
I’ve got a 2.0 diesel GT line. Towing a 2017 sprite Major 6 TD. Pulls great. Recently upgraded from a sprite Major 4 which is probably the top end of your maximum gross weight at 1320kg. No issues with nose weight.
Depends what you are towing. Would you not consider 2.0 litre ?
Have an Adria altea , weighing in at 1300kg . Tow sure match as good, currently tow with 2.0 Passat estate but have had so many issues with it it's time to try something else, just like the Sportage.

the 2016 onwards new model sportage has a 100kg noseweight limit and has far better rear suspension than the previous generation sportage which sagged badly
Just towed for the first time with my new Sportage KX4 auto. It towed perfectly. We only have a small van but it was like it wasn’t there. We also had the older Sportage. That towed well as well but it wasn’t anywhere near as good as the new one.

Just had a courtesy car Kia Sportage 1.7 diesel 67 plate for a day whilst my 2.0 diesel was in for a service and it definitely felt underpowered , certainly don’t think it would be a very good towcar
Just towed with our 67 plate KX-4 yesterday for the first time and with a measured noseweight of 90kg the car only dropped the rear suspension 2/3 cm and the performance towing up over the A66 was faultless .
Found it very stable and a relaxing drive with a 1.5 ton
2016 Swift single axle behind it.
I don't doubt it could handle a twin axle up to 1700kg with ease
I have a 2016 kx4 and tow a 2015 Bailey Cadiz, plated at 1550kg. Tows well with family of 4, kayak on roof (or bikes), we always get the noseweight to around 90kg and tows beautifully. Not as powerful as my old Volvo XC60 D5 and need to drop out of 6th gear on some motorway inclines, possibly into 4th when coming over the moors returning from Cornwall, but still very good. Get around 27mpg towing and 34mpg on school runs. Boot is bigger than I expected, but still have a narrow roof box. Overall very pleased with performance and towing.
