Just following on from the camping abroad fuel price thread....
Has anyone seen the offer in the CAMHC magazine regarding using motorway service stations (Shell only IICRC), and getting a whole £0.08p off a litre if you're a CAMHC member..???
Well, I was at Tibshelf services yesterday, and their price was £1.38ltr for diesel!
So even IF you got the 8p off a litre there, you're still paying way over the top!
Is this a sneaky con hoping people don't realise...???
If something sounds too good to be true it most probably is as it's just another one of those gimmicks that's not at all in the interest of the consumer. We like to shop at Aldi because the prices are cheaper so there's more cash in your back pocket but some people think that collecting points on a supermarket loyalty card are more important.
I don't think the CMC are suggesting that you always buy fuel on the motorway but if you are forced to by circumstances the discount will come in handy.
For the life of me i cant work out why anyone would think its a con
everyone knows that motorway fuel is by far the most expensive, Most people would only fuel up in a emergency so why would you class it as a con by the cc ?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I do everything in my power to avoid motorway service station fuel outlets. I always fill up before I start any journey with my caravan, whether outgoing or returning home. I find that a full tank of fuel will usually get me wherever I am going in one day.

My point exactly. Why would anyone be tempted to buy fuel from a motorway service station for 0.8p. a litre less when you can fill up for less elsewhere prior to entering the motorway.

Not a con, I mean they may think you're getting a good deal with the 8p off a litre, so woulf you then call it being 'fleeced'...???

Same here.
Fill the tank up going to site, and i always fill up before the return jouney.
Sometimes may be overkill, depending how far away i am, but just habbit that i do it.
