Why not take a look at the Chevrolet Captiva... 7 seater with a reasonable tow weight.

I have a new Galaxy (new shape) Its a 143bhp 2l tdci, it carries heavy work items all day, every day.

It is averaging 45-50mpg

Excellent car, well built (Even better than my previous VW!!) and really practical with th fold flat seats

Would highly recomend one.

Am really jealous now! We've got an 04 Ford Galaxy and love it. We needed a bigger car when we were tenters but now it's our family car/tow car.(basically Mom's taxi). Some friends had the Seat Alhambra and loved it. The only thing is with a Ford you get the quick clear windscreen etc which I think is only on the Fords. We love ours but the new shape is really cool and the fold flat seats rather than ours that you take out would be brilliant.

HI I RUN A PETROL 2LT GALAXY, AND YES, IT DRINKS FUEL. I GET 70 MILES FOR £10 ON MOTORWAYS, SO IT ADDS UP. WE USED TO HAVE A 20FOOT MID 80'S VICEROY, AND THE GALAXY STRUGGLED TO PULL IT !!! YEP.........WE MANAGED TO BREAK DOWN 3 TIMES GOING AND COMING BACK FROM HOLIDAY ( SPLIT WATER  HOSES ). WE BELIEVE THE WEIGHT OF THE CARAVAN WAS TOO MUCH FOR OUR 2TONNE CAR . HAD TO DOWNGRADE TO A SMALLER ,NEWER CARAVAN IN THE END.    HOWEVER, I STILL LOVE MY GALAXY, AND IT COULD BE JUST ME WHO HAD THESE TROUBLES, COULD HAVE BEEN UNLUCKY.

The fords front windscreen has heating elements, like a normal cars rear window.

Do the seats have those?, i was on the understanding that Ford copyrighted the idea.

I know my friends Seat has the "Qiuckclear" but this is only an extra heating button that blows hot air directly onto the windscreen at full power.

The new Galaxy is great, it had done 10,000 miles in 7 week with work!

I still love it, the heated seats, and windscreen heater is great, it is a great load lugger and the seating system means the kids can fit in around my work tool sets and trips to Ikea!

Front and rear patking sensors too...........

My seat has heating elements in the windscreen, and has a seperate button to swicth it on. If i use the heater and the quick clear at the same time it takes between 5 and 10 seconds to clear a frosty windscreen and just a few seconds more for the door mirrors.
