We have a 2004 Vectra, 1.9 cdti (120bhp), I cant comment how it compares with other cars, as this is the car we bought to tow our first van (bailey ranger).
All I can say is that it fulfills our needs and we have never had any trouble towing our van and we've been all over the country whether it be using motorways or the country roads.
