Had mine for nearly two years now; best tow car I've ever had, and the emmissions are 147g!

I have just bought a Bailey Pageant and i have got a Vectra hatchback 1.9 CDti 150 ps and it has no problems towing the van. The power is there if you need it but the fuel consumption is still around 40mpg on a motorway run. Very stable when towing, like yourself i was a bit hesitant on how the car would perform but  had no problems at all.

We have a 150 1.9 Vectra. Its the 4th Vectra C that We have had. The 1st & 2nd was a 2.2Tdi, 3rd 1.9Tdi 120 and then this one is 1.9Tdi 150. The 150 is fantastic at towing and I would even go as far to say that it pulls better than the 2.2. If we don't drive it silly it returns 61mpg not towing and 44.5 mpg towing (motorway). The current one is just under two years old and done 115k. The only thing that has gone wrong with it is a Heater Motor. But be careful because there's a Clutch/Fly Wheel fault with them and if its not repaired under warrentee it will cost you around £1k. The clutch squeals like the thresh bearing is seized and they end up having a new clutch and flywheel. Out of our fleet (around 250 Vectra's)there are only a couple of us who haven't had this problem. Monday I returned from Le Mans and we cleared 44.5mpg. Its due to be replaced next week and I will be sorry to see it go.

The diesel Vectra that you're looking at is a very stable tow car with plenty of power - just stay within the weight and loading limits and you shouldn't have any problems.

I used to tow a 1500Kg MTPLM van with a 2.2 Diesel Vectra SRi (120BHP) and that was quite happy and stable towing close to the manufacturers max tow - you'll have the benefit of another 30BHP to play with.
