Some tyres are more hard wearing than others.
There is an indication on of how harwearing a particular tyre is on the sidewall markings of most tyres.
It willl say "TREADWEAR" followed by a number; typically between 140 and 340. The higher the number the more hardwearing a tyre is. For instance a tyre rated at 280 will be twice as hardwearing as a one rated at 140.
This feature is rearly, if ever, mentioned on tyrewall coding explanations in this country as it is an American, not European requirement. Tyres without this marking are not intended for sale in USA. This also accounts for why it does not appear on all tyres.
