If you want a new Sorento they are available from Roadside garages in Coleraine NI. They bought a bunch of Sorentos in 2008 and registered them. They are now selling for £12950 with 10 miles on the clock no trade in and no haggle.

As of this moring they still have 5 left...  ask for Ian

Good luck.....

What a good deal. I paid a lot more for mine 4 years ago.

I'm still dubious about (comparitively) new budget motor manufacturers. Any one can build a car to last for 6 years, but after that, how many will survive? Particularly given that the depreciation is so high. There are still a remarkable number of 20 year old Land Rovers on the road. Any one expect to see a 20 year old Kia on the road....ever?

If it does what you want it to for as long as you want it to then that's fine. Personally, I prefer to have an older car that has done all it's depreciation and proved it's reliability. It may surprise you to discover, I have only broken down once in the last 12 years and thats with cars that have been an average of 14 years old during that period. How many people can say that?

I don't think Kia were in existence 20 years ago. If they were then they didn't export. I have had 4 Kias in the last 6 years and they all will last as long as your Land Rover and certainly don't cost as much.

At least they are still in busines which I doubt Land Rover will be by the end of the year!!!!!!!!!!

I can honestly say that I have never broken down in any vehicle I have ever owned and I am pushing sixty. Surely that's more to do with proper maintainance than any vehicles basic unreliability.

How bad is it? we are looking at Sorento's. There is a guy selling low milage ex mobility for less than £7000, very tempting.

My average for 2008 in my auto XE was 22.62 mpg over 6900 miles which included towing for 3500. Unfortunately I don't do many long solo runs which would have boosted the economy.

It is not good. Towing we used to average 18-23 and solo never got more that 28. believe me they are not good on fuel consumption. Towing is excellent but at the cost of comfort. You feel every bump. We changed the tyres which did help a little. I am now convinced that for the few times we actually needed 4 wheel drive it they are not worth the expense. Bought a winch instead!!!!

My fuel figures are about the same as 2Kias and mine has now done 23000 miles so it should be freeing off by now.

However, it's still the best tow car I have ever used and that includes Landrovers.

Our Sorrento (manual) is a fabulous towcar, as we only have a 1400Kg Bailey, it is effortless! ( Could probably have bought a Sportage!). Not bad on fuel either.

My sportage pulls a 1500kg van very nicely. Not too bad on fuel, and 4wd is abonus on wet grassy sites. But sorento looks like a whole heap of car for the money. Maybe next car will be a sorento...

Hey I hope that a Kia Sorento is going to be a good tow car too as I am trading my 2005 2.2Dci X-Trail sport for a 2008  Sorento Auto on Saturday morning  ……

We only use the car to tow and have covered only 14k miles in 2.5 years we used to have an Avondale Rialto 550-4 …..

My Xy towed the new1646kg 2009 Bailey Loire very well at just over the 100% mark with its 136bhp max tow weight of 2000kg of course I kept the speed right down ….

With the Kia Auto having max tow weight of 3500kg and kerb weight 2079kg and 168bhp I am hoping to see towing improvements all round (fingers crossed) …..

I will post again with my opinions of the Kia as soon as I’ve done some towing miles…..

Happy Towing to you all
