What a load of c**p your mate is talking. I got my 1.5dci Qashqai in January, the 1.8 tdci c max went off to the great auction in the sky. I did 2k miles before I put the van behind it and I can only say I was amazed. Our van tops out at just about the max of 1200kg, the car is loaded as well including the wifes mobility scooter, which isnt light. We were off to Cornwall which means mostly motorways. When we got on the M54 at Telford I set the cruise control at 60mph in 6th gear, which is 2000rpm. It was 4am and the roads were very quiet so no stop start. I didnt change gear until we came off the M5 at Exeter. Uphill and down dale along we came at 60mph and 2000rpm, so dont try to tell me it wouldnt pull skin off custard. Its a great tow car and more mpg than the c max as well.
