Yep seems you are quoting the car's max total weight, not kerb weight.  These are two different things.

From Volvo's website - the current models tech specs

Mainly under 1800 kg but still nowhere near 2150 kg kerbweight.

It seems only this year's ones are quite a bit heavier, but prior to that they are all around 1500 kg odd and there is no way I would tow above kerb weight let alone 1800 kg with a car that size!  Dunno why they give it such a high max tow tbh.

We've got a Galaxy 51 plate so not sure what mark that is but its the perfect tow car and family car.  We wanted to upgrade to the newer Galaxy but the seats don't come out like in ours and we like to take seats out to give the dogs more room.  Going down to Minehead i was getting 47/48 mile per gallon and earnt myself my 1st speeding ticket in my 19 years of driving :(

We're going up to Scotland in 4 weeks with our brand new Bailey so will let you know what the towing mpg is :)

I had a Golf TDi as a company car back in the nineties, that easily did 50 plus.  It was the estate version of the car, great little vehicle I really miss it especially its fuel consumption compared to my X Trail lol.
