Hi, too high a tyre pressure will give you a lot of bounce as with speed, as with the speed of van its easy to forget when you are towing a new van that its restrictions get forgotten,like you can not tow in the outside lane of motorways,unless the inside lane is closed,and its max speed motorways,is 60mph,dual carriage ways 60mph, 50mph on single lane two way roads,even if that road is 60mph or above, my mate did that very thing when he got a caravan,was so excited every thing when out his head and he had been driving for over 20years, any way enjoy your new caravan, hope you have lots of good times in her.

correct loading combined with correct tyre pressures correct speed for road,DONT always follow the speed limits bear in mind the road conditions the road surface the wind and weather and with all of the above youll find within a few miles youll feel alot happier.

and be prepaird for the wobble of the van when you overtake the bigger trucks/busses. its normal

After reading lots of advice on here before we got our van last year we were surprised to find we needed to increase the nose weight to stop bouncing. If we load with a nose weight as near to 70kg as possible we have a very stable tow, any less and it bounces.

we had a similar problem with our first caravan, and altought correct loading helped, the real solution was to fit shock absorbers to the caravan.

Quite a few caravans don't seem to have them fitted as standard, and they are quite cheap and easy to fit, and once fitted the differnce is quite astonishing. Not only do you lose the bounce, but the whole towing experience improves, and many of the scary parts such as the air wash from lorries and coaches is greatly reduced.

I would suggest that if you want to make a real improvemnt to the way your caravan handles, then fit some shock absorbers.

Hi everyone, just back from our first weekend away in our caravan and thought I would let you know how we got on.  Towing was not too bad, was a bit jittery at the beginning, had to keep remembering to look in towing mirrors, did bounce a little, but all in all, was suprised how quickly we got used to it.  (Don't want to be complacent about it).  I took alot of your advice and weighed and packed everything as per advice.  Just wanted to say thanks for all your advice, it really was good.
