I also get a slight clonk, which maybe as you describe - never got to the bottom of it, despite mentioning at the first service. It appears to happen when the gear is reengaged after depressing of the clutch - but not if you just press the clutch in and out.

Interested in more details of your soloution

Not sure what else I can add. The clonk was when pulling away and changing gear. The dealer weas aware that this was a problem on the post 2010 Santa Fe. The first fix was to tighten the hub nuts. This worked initially but the problem returned.

The final solution involved fitting some kind of washer or lock ring.

We have a santa fe on loan at the moment whilst the Cherokee is in hospital, I think its a very pleasant vehicle to drive and its very nippy and I wish the cherokee hand/foot brake was as good, I dont really want to compare it with the JGC as I dont think its helpful when the two units are such very different beasts

I had similar with mine. Particularly noticable when changing from driving in reverse after going forwards and vice versa (not sure if that makes sense)e.g drive up the road, stop, reverse into drive.

The dealer said the most common cause is the anti roll bar but mine ended up with a new cv joint unit which includes the drive shaft - about £700 if not under warranty.

Hi
I am new in camping area,i've got an bailey caravan of 1042 kg,and i am towing it with an vw jetta 2.0 diesel 140bhp.
My question is am i doing it wright, can this car tow my caravan or not?
The caravan weight its 83% of the car kerb weight, the caravan(laden) it is not heavier then the car(unladen).
I looked on internet for conditions to tow(nose weight, kerb weight....) and i think its all ok for this combination, but for some reason my car(jetta) keep breaking down,i had lots of problems with it,so now i wonder is it because the caravan its too heavy for the car,or i've got a s__t car?

The father in law has an old type diesel auto santa-fe and wont get rid of it for love nor money, apart from serviceing its never seen a garage. My wife is on her 5th Hyundai, although none have been santa-fe's, and she's had no trouble with any of them and the dealers are great compared to the likes of Vauxhall.
