In January this year we had the engine warning light come on whilst towing to Castleton. Phoned the Kia folk in Chesterfild and they managed to fit us in at short notice and cleaned out the filters correcting the problem. Then they vac'd out the car and washed it before returning it to me. Also provided courtesy car whilst fixing the car. All under the warranty, noting was too much trouble. In fact their first question was "have you got the service history papers with you so that we can fix it under warranty?"
Nothing but praise here for the warranty. I do expect to pay for wear and tear

Phill you are very lucky with your dealer, I wonder how they decided that the starter motor fault was not wear and tear, I`m sure that would have been the response from my dealer. I wonder if there is a financial advantage for them not to do the work under warranty?
The experience that I have had is that if there is a problem, their first reaction is that the warranty will sort it out. Perhaps its down to a dealers approach?

I find it staggering that the industry honestly expect folk to accept that a 3yr old car can require hundreds of pounds worth of work. It's clearly not fit for purpose if repairs are required so quickly. We warranty our valves to 10m cycles, & they have quite fragile elastomeric seals providing the sealing mechanism. I tell you now, the heavy truck industry wouldn't accept such rubbish. To validate a valve for use on a truck we induce 3g of vibration, then test at 0.5hz opening / closing, for 1.7m cycles from -40c to 120c. I can only imagine the failure rate if Kia put a Sportage through a test like that...
But once again we're just the public. The same public who vote a government in every 5 years, to look after our intrests...oh hang on...

Are my expectations too High. We bought our 08 Kia Sportage new partly because of Kia`s 7 year Warranty. The car (30000miles) .............. Now a front wheel bearing has collapsed £170.."better have the other one done too" another £170. Once again no help from Kia...wear and tear.
Very dissappointed in Kia and my local dealer whom I felt could have fought harder for me.. We also have a Kia Picanto touch wood ok so far!!
Anyone else had any similar problems?
I had wheel bearings on a Honda Jazz replaced under warranty at 60,000 miles.

I cannot fault KIA, when my Sorento was 8 months out of warranty i had no problem getting a fault rectified FOC. We have six KIAS in family and have been totally satisfied. When i had a brand new Discovery, that failed its first MOT with only 19,000 miles on clock with steering.
I know the post ref the Kia suspension bushes on the 08 Sportage was 5 years ago. But I have the same car with the same problem and the bushes CAN be purchased separately, you don't need to replace the whole arm. The bush cost was £13 but not sure on labour yet. Just posting in case anyone else has same problem.
We have recently changed a 4 year old Sorento for a new Santa Fe,we were going for a nearly new Sorento but got a cracking deal on the Hyundai.
The only fault on the Sorento in that time was some corrosion on the alloy wheels.4 were replaced under warranty at 3 years, pretty good! The corrosion was not excessive and could easily have been sanded off and wheels repainted.
Before that we had a 59 reg Titan for 3 years,faults-a switch on electrically adjusted seat replaced and a cracked peice of trim, both warranty.
So our experience has been positive.

We've had no problem with the Kia 7 year warranty. We had electronic component fail after 5 years. It was replaced no problem. We still gave 2 years full warrant left. Cant think of any other manufacturer who give a 7 year warranty.
hi, Just to add we bought a Sportage but in only 2 years the arm that held the spare wheel started to rust (poor paintwork)after contacting kia we were told it was not part of the bodywork cover But the model only sold the carrier on that model and it was a part of the car with the tailgate
then other things started to go wrong again kia said not covered when they should have been according to their adverts
we sold the car and bought a Suzuki Jimmy
