You don't have to register trailer, you are insured for third party risks on trailer when towing with your car insurance. If you want to insure trailer for damage/fire/theft you have to do that separately.

Cheers for that I did get a quote for £70 for insurance ,wish my at insurance was that low, so will think about it as trailer only cost £450 ,it took the bloke 7 hours to fit the tow bar something to do with twin electrics and 2 relays £40 for tow bar fitting and £35 to change rear discs and pads ,I think thats a good price gave a tip aswell as he didn't look that amused lol got a stick on number plate ,big relieve that it doesn't need registering ,even though personally I think they should, does anyone no any good areas around herts/beds and bucks ??

You are not supposed to use stick on numberplates & even legal looking plates from ebay suppliers may not be legal although probably ok. To ensure you have legal plate for your trailer just get a plate made up while you wait from a local shop like Halfords. You will need to take your car reg doc. & driving licence.

I didnt no that ,typical i brought one a few days ago, sticky sort of ebay,as halfords were 3 times the price, but as its a waste of money ,halfords would have been the better deal ,Live and learn

so i went down today and used 1 part miltons 10 water

gave it a good scrub in all the places pictures looked a

lot worse before i did it and judging by the photos you can tell how bad it was ,i have took the inner linings out to wash them,i no not to tumble dry them.but any other special rules before i wash them??

I cleaned the whole outside of the tent.once the inside was dry .with warm water nothing else, then i brought some spray from halfords to waterproof it and it just covered the whole thing.i left it do dry for 3 hours, even though the can said just spray on no further instructions .i cut away all the old duck tape ,and redone it ,until i can get it done properly

i dont quiet understand how to connect this break away cable i have taken photos,

if anyone would be kind enough to tell me where to put the cable when connected as i wasnt sure if it was anything to do with this hole? also is the clips tentz ?

also i tested out the brakes .by compressing the spring and seemed ok,i checked all round the tyres and loads of tread and more importantly no cracks in the side walls or signs of rotting.

was a bit anoyed when i pulled of the cover to find it had a massive puddle in the trailer but luckily i put a sheat of polylefin underneath

so i cleaned out my dads garage took 6 hours and just managed to fit the trailer in there, and i meen just the tow bar is pushed into a empty space in the frame in my motorbike to make it fit.as literally no room had to clime over the top of the trailer to get it out put a plank of wood across ,so not to damage anything, after all that i found the garage roof needs refelting as its leaking (sigh)

also a massive apology for my spelling mistakes .just re-read

i got a reply from the seller of the trailer,

(every trailer tent gets this mildew over the years it happens when its damp and its folded back down its 17 years old and comes with no garuntee whatsoever as with the refund its yours sold as seen its an auction no comebacks you asked me if there was any rot or damp there is none of this)

me reply

(Thats splitting hairs ,this should have been stated, and I do understood it's 17 and would expect some but thought this would have stated this,,and I never signed anything saying sold as seen , and according to trading standards when I phoned , unless I signed a sold of seen receipt it's not sold as seen , as the listing there's nothing saying sold as seen, I have gave it a good clean and used mildew remover and waterproofed it , so hopefully that will stop any further mould spread ,and be the end of it,,as it's a health hazard,)

surly he should have stated this as it wasnt in the listing ,was not stated in any of the questions i asked him ,

but to be honest i do want to keep it as long as the mould doesnt increase as it seems ok ,apart from the faults i stated .but as long as the weather is ok next weekend i will be using it .so will probably be back on here saying this happened that happened lol thanks again for replys

hi again ,sorry to be a pain.i final gave in to the bad weather and decided to go .so packed all the stuff got a baby sitter for 2 of the kids who are to young to camp ,then drive to my parents 20 miles away connected the trailer up ,in the rain out of the garage with a very awkward drive way/g

none of the rear lights work ,i was wondering if theres any switchs that need turning on to get the trailer lights working,i havent got a leisure battery in the trailer unsure if that would make any diffence .as the place i was going has ehu ?

so anoyed about this ,and unsure if its the tow bar that was fitted profesionaly and tested,or the trailer that i brought of ebay that had loads of problems that wasnt described in listing ,i no what my moneys on .but i cant moan at either party until i no which ones at fault

Assuming new towbar electrics on your car are ok, trailer lights may not work for various reasons. Judging from state of cables & age of trailer the whole lot including lights could be corroded. The whole wiring needs going through & bad bits replacing & possibly you will need new lights.

If you cannot diy your best bet would be to book trailer in for full service & repair at caravan workshop. It will probably cost you £200 odd but if you want a usable trailer you will need to do this if you have no diy skills.

i was wondering if i get one of them screwdriver type tester, can i test if its the tow bar electrics with one of these?

i no all the plug sockets and fridge all work ,with no problems inside when its connected with the ehu,and the seller told me he had no problems with the electrics and he had it on 2 different cars and worked on both,

the bloke who i got to do the tow bar did take about 7 hours to do it ,after stating it would only take around 2 hours,he said he had loads of problems with it,thats why i gave him a tip,i did ask that he tested it ,and he said yes,and its a proper buisness who fitted it .but im wondering if it is that,

also thanks tentz for the reply

You can check the car electrical socket on another trailer or light board. If you go back to fitting place they will have a test board & you can see for yourself if car is ok. Establish car is ok & then you know problem is with trailer.
