Motorists as a breed are pretty gullible, but with so much work being beyond the 'home mechanic', you can see why people will go to well-known brands who advertise heavily on TV etc.
A set of four discs and Mintex pads for our Discovery 2 can be bought for about £120. We fitted such a set on ours 50K miles ago, and they are still well over half the pads left.
Better in my view to find a small independent garage that can do the work and not hide behind the small print when it comes to pay up time.
