That is my current van, but the reason for changing cars was that I was hoping to change to a van of about 1350kg soon, hence the need for the 1575kg kerbweight.
I tow a Bailey Ranger 540/6 with my Octavia 1.9 tdi estate, does not even know its there most of the time, and its only steep hills like the ones on Dartmoors narrow lanes, that I change down to 3rd
The kerbweight is not on the vehicle's weight plate and I have never seen a vehicle with that information on the plate. The plate only states the gross weight, gross train weight and max axle loads.
When you get the car, just hook up the van and take it up that hill on the outskirts of Exeter the one with a campsite at the top, you will be amazed at how quick you get up there
OK, I now have the car, so for anyone interested here are some interesting figures!
The handbook (dated 2007) says the "unloaded mass ready for work" is 1385kg . It also says that this includes driver and 90% fuel, but this can't be true.
The V5 logbook says "mass in service" is 1450kg.
I then went to a weighbridge, and the weight including driver (me!), towbar, breakdown kit and 100% fuel was 1560kg.
Weight without driver was 1480kg, so fairly close to the V5 "mass in service" (which obviously doesn't include a driver).
According to the weighbridge (!) I weight 80kg, so knock off 5kg difference for the "official" 75kg figure. Then knock off another 4.5kg to reduce the tank to 90% fuel. The kerbweight for MY vehicle then comes in at approx 1550kg. So not far off the "accepted" figure of 1575kg for this vehicle (if a little less).
Note that this is all for a 2008 Octavia Estate 2.0TDI DSG Elegance spec with towbar fitted.
Hope this info will be useful to someone in future.
