Do not agree that CR V is way too light to to a 1600kg caravan. As said previously CR V would be more than 85% match but not 100% .Honda handbook gives manual diesel kerbweight at upto 1712 Kgs ((94%) , put some weight in the car and this will obvioulsy reduce.
Thanks for the offer petra but think we will be going Kia Sorento as long as 2005/6 auto doesnt creep up into £460 tax bracket.Think when i see one i like i will ask how much and what bracket it sits in with the dealer to confirm 100%.Thanks everbody again,my first post on here and had lots if feedback, cheers. One soon to be happy tourer!!

only the latest CRV D-tec EX-t (2011-12)is around the 1712kg kerbweight , typically 2007-2010 cdti ES models come in at 1660kg .
Ive had two , both Es models and the 2007 and my present 2010 models were accurately weighed and came in at 1660kg and 1665kg with 90% tank of fuel so with a 1600kg van in tow thats close to 100% match.
Even the heaviest models at 1712kg still works out at 94% match which is not ideal.
On top of that the CRV's have a weak clutch which is well documented on the Honda Forums as there have been several instances of premature clutch failure on some CRV , Accord ,and Civic CDTI's .
With that in mind I only ever tow forward and always use the mover for positioning the van to save any undue clutch wear although reversing is second nature to me as I'm a retired LGV 1 driver .
A new clutch incidentally is 1500 notes if you get Honda to replace it .
Honda claim the CRV has a 2 ton towing capacity which may be true but I doubt if the clutch is up to prolonged towing at that maximum figure
After the engine bent valves on the Grand Vitara, we bought a Range Rover DSE but only looked for one registered before 1st March 2001...
....WHY ..... well because before that means it is only £220 per year to tax it, rather than the £250 for the 1600cc Grand Vitara registered one month after the 1st March 2001.
Trust you bought a full size spare for your CR V as the spacesaver is not suitable for towing according to Honda, don't have a problem with clutch on my CR V as it is a diesel auto,(EX) this will not tow a 1600kgs van.
You must like the CR V as you are on your second one (as I am), don't like the looks of the new one or the 2 piece back seat in place of 3 pieces, The middle section is ideal when folded for awning poles without compromising the ability to have 2 rear seat passengers
Lower road tax for high emission cars if registered before March 2006. A reason why you will pay more for a 55 plate Feb 06 registered Discovery than an 06 plate April 06 registered one.

I have no real complaints with the Honda's and providing you treat the transmission / clutch with respect and don't abuse it there ok .
I'm of to test drive the new model on the 30th at my local dealership with the view to buying a new model in 2013 which will be an Automatic .
My van is under 1500kg so ok there and when I replace it I'm looking for a lighter van again probably a 2 berth
Auto CR V tends to hunt between 4th and 5th when towing, I get 22-25 mpg when towing van with MLTPM of 1475 kgs, MPG figures sre for towing on mainly motorways down to Weymouth from Derbyshire. New model still has 5 speed auto torque converter, emissions less than mine (195). Towbar cost me £685 from Honda dealer (honda towbar). This disables rear sensors when van is attached so do not need to switch them off except when reversing

I have a 2005 Sorento 2.5 CRDi XSE, the tax is not that bad, £148.50 for 6 months and £270 for the full year. Towing capability 1750 kg.
Insurance fully comp £226 + £24 for legal protection if you feel you need it.
The engines are reasonably bullet proof, excellent to drive for both men and women and reliability very good. Plus it has a low ratio box.
That is why after months of research through folk I know in the trade I bought it.
Stick to manual as opposed to auto.
Diesel consumption not great but I knew that when I bought it.
