Oh no! What had they done to it?

We noticed the clutch was slipping at high speed under very hard acceleration (something that didn't show on the test drive) so we took it to a Nissan Dealer who condemned the clutch but also noticed that the car had tuning equipment fitted! And not the plug-in variety either. The DPF had been removed, wires cut - a real mess by all accounts. I asked what was involved in puting it right and the estimate was over 2k In parts plus the clutch, plus the labour!
I put the Nissan dealer (who was excellent) in touch with the trader, the trader then rang and offered to refund me and take the car back as it was not as described and he could sense that I had lost faith in it. I doubt it will ever be right. A real shame.
I don't think the trader I bought it from was aware, he'd bought it from a local franchised dealer who'd taken it in p/ex. They probably didn't know either, my guess is the original owner bailed out of it as soon as trouble loomed.
Anyway the trader was a real gent in the end and put the money back in my account without quibble.
Undeterred, I will look for another because it was otherwise perfect for our needs.
Nice choice...we have a 2009/58 2.0DCI sport and love it. When you get time take it to a local weighbridge and see what the actual kerbweight is as you may be surprised. Ours came in at 1820kg with me in the drivers seat and less than 1/2 a tank of fuel with a completely empty boot so I work to this figure when looking at an 85% match as I know it will always be more with luggage, etc when going away.
Well done, got a feeling I have a slipping auto box but not 100% sure yet. Sending it in for a service and check over first. It is ancient so if it breaks, it breaks.

Enjoy!
Thanks Dazzer, loving it so far! Think I recall your thread when you were shopping for one. Tow bar going on next week, then tempted to weigh it - though our van is only 1325kg max so I know it's ok. Can't wait to see how it tows though!
