I am still undecided whether to buy a set of winter tyres for our Disco. The Wranglers that are on are marked "all weather" and M+S and we have never got stuck in snow yet: despite skiing from the 'van for the last 4 years in Scotland. Nonetheless, tempted to buy some genuine winter tyres because: 1. they will perform better in a motorway emergency 2. we plan to keep the car more than 3 years: so one more set of tyres will be needed. I can't work out whether I'm just being geeky, or whether its a REALLY good idea.

I use Kleber Quadraxer All Season tyres on my Volvo V70. They are M+S rated and have the Mountain symbol.
They are quieter, cheaper and grippier in all situations, summer or winter (I live in Scotland), than the awful Pirelli P6000 Powergys that are OEM for this car. They have also lasted longer. The Pirellis were brand new when I bought the car, still had the "cactus spikes" on them. I had them for a year and a half and went through that terrible winter 2010 with them. I had 3 mm tread left on them after that winter. I researched tyres and came up with the Klebers. They are now a year and a half old, and the fronts have 6 mm left, the rears 8 mm left. I also run them at a slightly higher pressure, up from the recommended 29 psi for the Pirellis, to 36 psi, where they feel better, give more grip, no aquaplaning and fuel consumption is better, although the latter coincided with a new throttle body.
