on the plate on the side of the caravan it says gross 788kg thats the only weight it says on it bud, looks like im off to boots with the mrs n kids to get on the scales and add that on aswell then haha,
just put a pic of my caravan up so people can gimme some advice if this kind of weight seems right, its a abbey cambridge if that means anything to anyone on here ?? all new to this caravanning, havent done it since i was about 8 with the grandparents haha
well i can pull it about on my own with ease so it aint heavy to be honest, been told its late 80s?? no idea myself just going from what iv been told, came with cooker and everything in that works, new full gas bottle, toilet, water barrels etc, all water pipes ands electric hook ups, slight bit of damp on roof at the back but nothing that cant be fixed, stands me at the grand amount of £50 !!!! couldnt turn it down haha
I've a load of manuals & docs scanned as pdf's from my old Abbey. I'll have a dig later, as one sheet had both weights for all the Abbeys.
From looking at the pic I'd say your 788 is unladen, & your going to be around 1000kg full.
This ruling business is daft, but I'd always gone with empty car - full caravan as that's worst case. Your Disco & van are well under 3.5t combined.
I had one of those vans around 20 years ago, looks like an abbey, towed with a 1.8 Vauxhall cavalier.
The good old days Bob, thats why you love your skoda so much it was designed in the same era as your old cavalier..... times were good then driving a premuim badge eh
cheers matees, i was just a bit warey as i know the disco is about 2.2 tonne, then the 788kg ish for the caravan, plus weight of awning, toilet, clothes, bedding gas bottle etc etc, plus me the mrs n daughter in the car and my toolbox etc, thought id be pushing it
