This is the same Bob that says its safer to go at normal speeds when it is windy as the extra forward motion means the sideways effects of the wind will be less noticeable. Personally I slow down when windy & load the van to get the nose weight as close as possible to the lowest of the car's or the caravan's limit, which ever is the lower.

A full HGV is heavier than a correctly loaded caravan. Also when empty, curtain siders open the sides if its windy. Not really possible with a caravan.

The main reason of a 4x4 was extra piece of mind when towing. To get the noseweight of the unicorn down to 90kgs the awning is at the back between the fixed singles and I have to empty the hot water tank so nose weight has everything to do with it I struggle to get it to 90 kgs so getting it down to 80 kgs would be near impossible. The mondeo does a good job and when the car is loaded I'm probably not far from 85%. It just seems a little twitchy compared to our old swift challenger 530. Perhaps it's because it's slightly longer??
