Im confused, when I checked with Autoaid and in my policy document is says and they have said that the everything that the car is covered for, the caravan is covered for, i.e if a tyre goes on the caravan you are covered. Obviously you have to pay for parts and labour but you have to do that with any policy - have you actually phoned them. ~Would be interesing to know so im not not covered
Our caravan is with the Camping and Caravan insurance. But the car is with Mobility so RAC is included.
But I telephoned the RAC last year about adding the caravan onto the Mobility side of the RAC as cars is okay and not c.van.
It cost us £32 to renew it this year. It's just added onto what Mobility have with the RAC for it to be recovered etc.
Which thankfully I renewed as we needed the RAC when we broke down going across the Yorkshire Dales to go from Kendal site to Slingsby. All went perfectly, very relieved it is taken out of our hands into theirs for such a little add on to the main RAC price you have. We only have a little caravan so my be different but surely not that much.
Telephone and ask the RAC for the info for adding caravan only onto your subscription with the RAC. You may be pleasantly surprised.
I joined C&CC Arrival after breaking down a few years ago whilst towing. At that time i belonged to AA and had recovery .The landrover was put on vehicle and the van towed.I was told if it had been the van instead of the motor and the van was not towable they would of arranged a transporter at my cost, which would of been in the £100's to get it home. With C&CC Arrival you are totally covered
Have you looked at the Caravan Club's Mayday service with Green Flag? We pay £95 including relay and homestart and also dual recovery (takes you to campsite and hoem again if neccessary). We ended up joining CC as well as C&CC as overall we made a saving.
We are also with Mayday through the CC.
We don't have personal cover, just covered the two cars we have, I think it was around £130 this year for both.
We liked the idea that if we were going on hols, and broke down they would take us and then come back at the end of the holiday to take us home (if we hadn't had the car repaired in the meantime!)
I've only called them out once, when the car wouldn't start outside the house and they were great. It took them over an hour to get to us, so we got £10 back!

Hi.
After reading the other posts I am a bit confused. We have a trailer tent and had regular trailer tent insurance. I am now looking and didn't think it covered breakdown of the tent in transit or repatriation if the car broke down. I have spoken with AA and RAC about europe cover (we are travelling to France)and they say the tent is covered with AA if it is attached to the car and will fit into a container. Other people have spoken about C&CC Arrival insurance, would this match the cover we want? I am not a member of the C&CC. If anyone can offer advice that would be great. We go in August but would like to get it sorted before. Thanks
When you get your renewal, always go on line and see when the price is for the same cover.
The AA wanted £150, so went on line called them and got it reduced to £70.
