Vangoman i think the OPs car is the older 1.8TD, Thats why its a lot lighter.
Thats the issue with newer vans they got loaded with extra goodies. Pushing the weight up.
Just because a vans smaller doesnt always mean its lighter also. I have to keep pointing this out to my wife.
My Avondale is 23ft long yet weighs 1150kg gross laden. With an unladen of under 900kg.
Side diner with a decent sized rear bathroom, Front seating is over 6th so you could have 2 single beds, Or a standard sized double or even lower the front cabinet and make a huge bed.
Thats a good sized van for the weight..

I got the car of my dad who has owned it for 5 years, he was pulling a Bailey Ranger 460/2 which I think loaded is 1140kg and it pulled fine.
I went looking at a smaller van but really want the end washroom if I can, it seems there's a missive difference in weight from 2000 to 2005 models in weight.
I have seen a 2000 swift that has the rear washroom and a L shape living space which was nice but still 1140kg.

But its light because its fairly basic by modern standards.
No blinds or flyscreens, Smaller fridge and the older style cooker, Not something that looks like it came from your kitchen.
Its like a family member now, We have had it so long it suits our needs.
One thing i noticed, Newer vans have jumped in price by quite a margin.
What can you buy for £4000 now from a dealer thats not faulty and in the trade section.
I noticed a large caravan dealership near where we live selling older caravans which he has taken in part exchange and sells them for around £1500 - £2500. He advertises them on Ebay as well.
He describes them as being sold for spares or repair? Which means no comeback for him.
I would expect an older van being sold for spares or repair for maybe a couple of hundred pounds.

Basic caravan but just what we need. Thanks for all your help.
1104 kgs. would only be the MIRO (unladen weight). You need to calculate the 85% match with the MTPLM (fully laden weight).
