Have you towed with this car before and it be ok? If so have you changed the tyres on the car? Father in Law had an issue on his Mondeo that after fitting budget tyres to the back of his car, the caravan was all over the place - can only think that the sidewalls of the tyres weren't as strong as the previous ones.

ok arrived back home and am a lot happier with how the drive home went took nearly everything out of the boot and put it in the van set noseweight to 70kg pumped tyres up to laden weight and checked van tyres to the spec in the handbook anyway 60mph no issues at all straight as a dye so all i can think like you guys have said i must have overloded the rear axle causing this instability. also i seemed to gain a few mpg on the way back going i averaged 22mpg coming home 27mpg dont know if it is related but i was smiley happy when i got home
